Suspected terrorists believed to be members of the Lakurawa group have reportedly killed a farmer in Marake Village, Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State. It was disclosed on Thursday that armed assailants on motorcycles attacked farmlands in Sokoto State on Tuesday, July 16, around 4:00 p.m., killing a local farmer. The attackers reportedly stormed the area while farmers were working, opening fire and killing one of them, identified as Hamisu Bala, on the spot. Troops of the Nigerian Army’s Operation FANSAN were said to have responded swiftly to a distress call and arrived at the scene shortly after the attack. The victim’s body was evacuated to a nearby hospital, while security forces launched patrols and a manhunt across surrounding communities to apprehend the fleeing gunmen.
