The incident occurred at Alagbayun area, Odo-Oba of the town. It was gathered that the petroleum tanker with registration number BAU 586ZE swerved across the road, causing the contents to gush out. The Chairman, Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the development on Tuesday and noted that the accident occurred due to a mechanical fault. Akinwande disclosed that the truck had been cleared off the road, and normal vehicular movement was going on on the road. The chairman said: “On getting to the scene of the accident, we met a Howo trailer tanker with reg. number BAU 586ZE loaded with 45,000 litres capacity of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) swerved across the road and content gushing out. “Immediately, we swung into action by blanketing the area with foam chemical compound, so as to neutralize the flammability of the content to prevent any imminent fire from surrounding. “The truck has been cleared off the road, and normal vehicular movement is going on on the road. The accident was due to a mechanical fault in the engine compartment.”
