A senior police officer, DSP Amos Biko, was killed and several others injured in a violent ambush by suspected cultists and drug dealers during a raid on a criminal enclave in Bakasi Yimitu Village, Waru area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), late Wednesday night. The joint operation, involving a surveillance team and the Destiny Hunters vigilante group, was launched based on credible intelligence targeting a notorious hideout. However, the operatives were met with fierce resistance as the hoodlums launched a coordinated attack, injuring multiple officers, including DSP Biko, the Second-in-Command of the Waru Outstation, and Philibus, the Commander of the Destiny Hunters. DSP Biko was rushed to Shekworhishama Hospital in Kabusa but succumbed to his injuries. The attackers destroyed three patrol vehicles, seized a riot long-range firearm and cartridges, and vandalized the Waru Outstation, smashing glass windows and damaging six privately owned vehicles parked on the premises.
