Cultists ambush security team, kill senior police officer in Abuja Open

A senior police officer, DSP Amos Biko, was killed and several others injured in a violent ambush by suspected cultists and drug dealers during a raid on a criminal enclave in Bakasi Yimitu Village, Waru area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), late Wednesday night. ‎The joint operation, involving a surveillance team and the Destiny Hunters vigilante group, was launched based on credible intelligence targeting a notorious hideout. However, the operatives were met with fierce resistance as the hoodlums launched a coordinated attack, injuring multiple officers, including DSP Biko, the Second-in-Command of the Waru Outstation, and Philibus, the Commander of the Destiny Hunters. ‎‎DSP Biko was rushed to Shekworhishama Hospital in Kabusa but succumbed to his injuries. ‎The attackers destroyed three patrol vehicles, seized a riot long-range firearm and cartridges, and vandalized the Waru Outstation, smashing glass windows and damaging six privately owned vehicles parked on the premises.
