Tension gripped the Onigbara River community in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday evening, following the alleged killing of a young man, Emmanuel, by his own brother, Daniel, during a heated altercation. Both young men are sons of a well-known community police officer in the area, popularly referred to as “Awilo.” It was gathered that the argument between the two brothers escalated rapidly before Daniel reportedly launched a fatal attack on Emmanuel. Meanwhile, the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear, but residents say the confrontation turned violent in a matter of moments. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said, “We still don’t understand what exactly happened between them. It’s shocking that a quarrel could end like this." Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ondo State, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the matter had been escalated to facilitate a comprehensive investigation. He added that the Commissioner of Police had ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Akure for a thorough probe.
