The police in Niger State have launched an investigation after a land dispute between two villages led to the death of a 42-year-old Mohammed Mohammed, and injuries to six others in the Katcha Local Government Area of the state. The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation on Monday. According to Abiodun, one person was confirmed dead and six others injured after some youths from the Gbakpo village attacked farmers at the Gidigi village on Friday, around 11 a.m., when the victims were working on their farm. The attackers were said to have used dane guns, cutlasses, and sticks during the attack. He said, “On July 25, 2025, at about 11 am, a distress call was received that a group of youths from the Gbakpo village attacked some people from the Gidigi village while working on their farm. The assailants were armed with dane guns, cutlasses and sticks. “As a result of the attack, about six persons sustained gunshot injuries, while one Mohammed Mohammed, aged 41 years old, died in the process.” According to him, the injured victims were taken to the Umaru Sanda Hospital in Bida for treatment.
