Four residents of Akpoha Autonomous Community in the Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State were abducted while working on their farms on July 24. The victims were reportedly taken by yet-to-be-identified persons, prompting security concerns across the community. Confirming the incident on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer of Ebonyi State Command, Joshua Ukandu, said the Divisional Police Officer in Afikpo Division had briefed the command News Agency of Nigeria reports. Ukandu said, “When I called the DPO to confirm the information, he told me that they had visited the scene of the incident to ascertain what had happened and to find out more about the situation. “The division has commenced investigation and search for the rescue of the victims by collaborating with the community leaders, traditional leaders to unravel the reason behind the abduction. “The command will reveal more details when the investigation is concluded on the matter.”
