Gunmen suspected to be herders have killed a retired secondary teacher identified as Mr. Andrew Imuekheme, in Edo State. It was gathered the deceased was killed on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, while returning from his farm. The incident happened at the Ikabigbo community in Etsako West Local Government Area. It was gathered that the deceased ran into the herders, who abducted and dragged him into the bush before killing him. A local who spoke on condition of anonymity explained that a woman had earlier in the day narrowly escaped from the herders. The local said it was the woman that informed the vigilantes and hunters of the presence of the gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, in the farmland. The information prompted the vigilantes and hunters to mobilize for bush combing. Villagers started calling family members who had gone to the farm to come home, to avoid being killed. “The vigilantes later found his motorcycle and his shoes while his corpse was later found in the evening after serious bush combing with gunshot and machete cut injuries,” the local said.
