The 16-year-old East La Penitence girl who was hit to the neck by a stray bullet while riding home through East Ruimveldt two nights ago has died. The young girl, Reyna Depeazer, passed away at the Georgetown Hospital this afternoon without ever regaining consciousness. The Guyana Police Force has been tightlipped on its investigations into the tragic shooting incident. The teen was on her way home from a friend’s birthday party when gunshots were heard in Mango Lane, East Ruimveldt and she was hit to the neck, collapsing to the side of the road. Persons in the area rushed to her assistance and took her to the Georgetown Hospital, where she was admitted in a critical condition. Family members were hoping that she would have recovered, but News Source understands the injuries were severe. Persons in the area where the incident took place reported that there was a confrontation between two rivaling gang members in the area when one of them started firing gunshots. It is believed that it was one of those gunshots that hit the teen. A number of persons were questioned about the shooting.
