Armed hoodlums have stabbed to death a National Diploma II (ND II) student of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi, identified as Samuel Mbami, during an attack on a students’ hostel in the institution. A source from the institution said the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday when the unidentified armed hoodlum invaded the students' hostel around 3 a.m., raided rooms, and in the process stabbed Mbami, an ND II Mass Communication student, to death. The National President of the National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS), Bello Ibrahim Aliyu, who also confirmed the incident, described it as a “heinous and barbaric act” which is “strongly condemned in its entirety.” “It is worrisome to note that this is coming barely days after a similar invasion at Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, though without loss of life. Such repeated attacks on innocent students are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” Aliyu said. Aliyu said that while NUBASS commiserates with the family of the deceased, the management of ATAP and the entire student community, the union “urges all students to remain calm, law-abiding, and avoid taking the law into their own hands.”
