Gunmen kill Bauchi herder, abduct 12 year old brother The family of Alhaji Ibrahim, a cattle rearer in Kunkar Village, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, is mourning the death of his 35-year-old son, Adamu Ibrahim, who was shot dead by suspected gunmen in the Yankari bush on Sunday morning. It was gathered on Monday that the attackers also abducted Adamu’s younger brother, 12-year-old Suleiman, during the incident. Adamu and Suleiman were said to be tending their father’s cattle in the forest when the armed men accosted them, demanding to know the owner of the herd. Fearing for his life, Adamu reportedly attempted to escape but was shot in the left leg and left to bleed to death, while his younger brother was taken away. Confirming the incident in a telephone interview on Monday, the spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, Ahmed Wakil, said that the matter was reported by the children’s father. The gunmen also abducted Suleiman Ibrahim, a 12-year-old boy.
