The Kwara State Fire Service said that it saved nine shops from destruction during a fire at Joseph Duntoye Street, Tipper Garage, Tanke Area, Ilorin South Local Government, on Sunday. A statement by Hassan Adekunle,head of Media and publicity of Kwara fire service made available to the press on Monday said that out of the nine shops , only one was affected by fire while eight were destroyed. He said that the timely arrival of firemen at the scene safed the eight shops.adding” the timely arrival of firemen at the scene prevented fire from affecting the whole building . “On arrival at the scene, firefighters discovered that a building consisting of about nine shops was involved, but due to the swift intervention of the fire crew, only one shop was affected by the blaze. He said that preliminary investigation revealed that the fire incident was caused by a power surge, which ignited the affected shop. “The timely response of the Kwara State Fire Service prevented the fire from spreading to the remaining shops in the building and adjoining structures, thereby saving valuable properties from destruction. The Director, Kwara State Fire Service,Mr John Famuyiwa urges members of the public to always prioritize electrical safety and ensure proper maintenance of wiring systems to avoid fire outbreak.
