The Kirikasamma Local Government Area (LGA) of Jigawa State has confirmed the death of one person following the collapse of a building in Kabak village. The council’s spokesman, Musa Muhammad, disclosed the incident in a statement on Sunday, noting that seven others sustained injuries during the midnight tragedy on Friday. He attributed the collapse to heavy rainfall that pounded Kirikasamma and surrounding communities. The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the council chairman, Muhammad Maji, has since visited the scene to commiserate with the affected families. He announced the release of N500,000 to cover medical expenses for the victims and N100,000 in emergency support for the bereaved family. “I gathered that seven persons got serious injuries while one person died at Kabak village in Kirikasamma Local Government Area,” Muhammad said. “The incident happened at midnight, Friday, after which five of the victims were hospitalised while the remaining two were treated and discharged.”
