Suspected armed herders invaded Tse Akor Gbatse, a village in Mbamar Clan, Nyiev Council Ward, on Saturday of the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, and killed a man, injured his wife, and another person. Several others were reported to be missing after the attack on other farmers in the community, It was gathered on Sunday. According to a source, who simply identified himself as Jonah, the suspected herders were said to have attacked the three people who were working on the farm around 11:45am. The source said, “Suspected armed herders on Saturday at about 11:45 am attacked and killed a man identified as Mr Tachia Akor, his wife, and one Mrs. Mbagbedi Tsetim sustained serious injury. “The two women were rushed to the Adi Hospital in Daudu town. Many other farmers are still missing as of today (Sunday). Jonah further said some of the suspected herders were sighted hibernating in deserted villages in the LGA. When contacted on Sunday, the spokesperson for the Benue State Command, DSP Edeme Udet, who confirmed the incident, said that officers had been deployed to the affected villages. “Yes, we were informed. Immediately we heard of the report, our men were deployed to the area, and they are already investigating the matter. Normalcy has returned to the area,” the PPRO said.
