The Osun State Police Command on Monday said a probe has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the death of one Monrufu Adebisi in Osogbo, the state capital. The incident, which reportedly occurred at Church Street, Dada Estate, Osogbo, sources said, led to panic in the neighbourhood. Adebisi, it was learnt, was coming from the mosque when some yet to be identified assailants attacked and killed him. A resident of the area, identified simply as Kikelomo, while speaking on the incident, said, “I didn’t hear any noise. It was early, and many people were still indoors. “But because school was resuming, some people who went out early could be heard speaking on the streets in our area. The man, Adebisi, was a known face in the neighbourhood. We were told he was coming from the mosque. “A man who was said to be going to farm reportedly found the man in the pool of his blood and alerted the residents. We were all shocked. It led to panic. The matter was later reported at the Dada Estate Police Station.” When contacted for confirmation, the Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the incident was reported by a man going to farm, who found the deceased lying dead on the street. Ojelabi added, “The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. today (Monday). One Mr Oyewole was on his way to his farm when he discovered the body. He was the one who reported the matter. “The body was later identified as Adebisi Monrufu. The area where the body was found is called Church Street, Dada Estate, Osogbo. “Immediately we got the information, we went there and evacuated the body. Our intelligence department is on the ground, sniffing around to know what could be the cause. “We are going to conduct an autopsy. We are assuring the people of Osun State that we will unravel whatever is behind the killing.” The killing occurred at a time when the state police command was recording success against criminals in the state
