Over 200 pupils of Kamfanin Daudawa Primary School in Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State, have reportedly stopped attending classes due to the dilapidated condition of the school. The community said the classrooms have no windows, doors, or blackboards, while walls are peeling and the ceilings are dangerously unstable. Parents warned that children risk serious injury if urgent repairs are not carried out. A civic technology platform, Monitng, reported that one classroom recently had its ceiling collapse, although pupils had fortunately gone home before the incident. “Dear Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State. The ugly state of Kamfanin Daudawa Primary School, Faskari LGA, Katsina State is a heartbreaking reflection of how badly neglected education has become,” Monitng said. “Over 200 pupils in the community have stopped attending classes because the school is no longer habitable. No windows. No doors. No blackboard to write on. The walls are peeling and unsafe. The classrooms have become a danger zone instead of a place of learning.” “One of the classrooms recently had its ceiling collapse, luckily, the pupils had gone home before it happened. Just imagine the tragedy if the children had been inside. We would have been talking about loss of lives in a school meant to protect and nurture them.” The platform also criticised government priorities in education funding. “Despite the billions of naira budgeted annually for education in Katsina State, the reality on the ground is devastating. The impact of the ₦250 billion disbursed by UBEC across Nigeria, including Katsina, is yet to be seen. Pupils in Kamfanin Daudawa community are paying the price of government failure.” “How do we explain a situation where children are forced to learn in such dehumanizing conditions, while government prioritizes projects like the renovation of cemeteries over the future of its young generation? Education and health should never be compromised, they are the foundation of any prosperous society,” Monitng added. The platform called for urgent government intervention to prevent further school dropouts and protect the future of the community’s children. “The government must act now. Rescue Kamfanin Daudawa Primary School. Restore dignity to education in Katsina. Our children’s future should not be buried under collapsed ceilings while public funds are wasted on projects that add no real value to human development.”
